Enjoy a traditional Fijian Meke performance

Enjoy a traditional Fijian meke, which conjures up folk legends, spirits and history through a combination of dance and storytelling. Dancing and chanting are accompanied by rhythmic clapping and the beating of the lali, a traditional Fijian drum. At its culmination, join in and perform a simple dance movement called the taralala.

Music and performance are central to Fijian culture, and there’s no richer expression of both than a traditional Meke (warrior dance ceremony).
